Reverse-engineered retaining collars for a woodchipper solenoid
A set of 3 threaded retaining collars reverse-engineered and printed in PC to hold a woodchipper's hydraulic valve solenoid assembly in place under vibration.

Notes
- 1
The solenoid assembly on this woodchipper rides on a mounting tube, held in place by a threaded retaining collar. Vibration during operation or transport can back the collar off, letting the assembly come loose. We sat down on site to go over the failure and work out a fix.
- 2
We reverse-engineered the collar from the original, sizing the thread to M24 x 1.5 and checking it against the mounting tube for fit. No drawings, no part number to order against, just the geometry in front of us.
- 3
PC was the call here. The collar sees vibration and repeated hand-tightening in a dirty outdoor environment, and it needed to hold a thread under load without cracking or stripping.
- 4
We trial-fit samples on site before finalizing, then delivered a set of three. Each one printed in 1.15 hours and came in at 22.5 g.
