The job

This hanging scale weighs bagged aluminum cans at a recycler, and it came to us with the battery cover gone entirely. Every weigh-in had become a two-hand job: one hand steadying a heavy bag, the other pressed to the back of the scale to keep the batteries from dropping out mid-reading. The maker doesn’t sell the cover on its own, only a whole new scale.

We measured the empty bay and the housing clips, modeled a cover to match, and printed it in carbon-filled ASA so it could take the daily handling. It snapped back in and held the cells seated, so a full bag could be weighed one-handed again.
